Maintenance Excellence & Reliability

Maintenance
that delivers
lasting results.

I help manufacturers reduce unplanned downtime and build planned, data-driven maintenance — together with the people who work with the equipment every day.

How I can help

Technical experience.
Structured improvement.

01 / RELIABILITY

Address failures at their root.

Analyse recurring failures, prioritise critical equipment and develop effective preventive maintenance measures. Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) provides a structured framework.

02 / MAINTENANCE EXCELLENCE

Make maintenance predictable.

Build planned maintenance, maintenance planning and scheduling, job preparation and spare parts processes that work in everyday plant maintenance.

03 / DIGITALISATION

Turn data into better decisions.

Support CMMS implementation and connect it with MES and OEE processes. The system is a tool; maintenance processes define the requirements.

Benefits for your plant

Fewer losses.
Greater reliability.

  • Reduce downtime costsAddress the root causes of recurring failures and reduce reactive maintenance.
  • Improve equipment availabilityPrioritise critical equipment, plan maintenance windows and stabilise production.
  • Extend service lifeUnderstand wear and maintain or replace components according to their needs.
  • Build ownership in your plantClarify responsibilities and empower teams to sustain improvements themselves.
  • Organise statutory inspectionsTrack statutory inspections, required maintenance, deadlines, responsibilities and records in a structured way.
  • Strengthen delivery capabilityReliable equipment and clear capacity information support on-time delivery and more flexible production.
Measurable impact

Make results visible.

Planned maintenance can reduce unplanned failures and improve equipment availability. Availability contributes to OEE alongside performance and quality. Changeover times and minor stops are further opportunities for targeted improvement.

Improve OEE where it matters

Reduce changeover times and minor stops. Improvement potential depends on your equipment and starting point.

Project-specific results, not universal targets. Starting conditions, equipment complexity, product mix and operating conditions affect achievable results.

My approach

Improvement starts with the equipment.
And stays with the team.

I speak the language of both the shop floor and management, connecting technical solutions with clear objectives, understandable decisions and joint implementation.

Quick wins build trust. Involvement, clear responsibilities and regular reviews turn initial results into a lasting system.

Without an established improvement processWorking with me

Without an established process

1 Improvement initiative

Initial actions deliver improvements.

2 No continuous improvement process established

Without shared understanding and routines, the initial impact fades over time.

Working with me

1 Improvement initiative

Implement together and achieve initial improvements.

2 Continuous improvement process established

People understand the goals, take ownership and keep improving the system — through progress and setbacks.

Illustrative comparison · not a performance guarantee.

Stefan Steck / Steck Projects

I know maintenance from hands-on experience.

I spent 15 years maintaining production equipment myself. I then qualified as a state-certified mechanical engineering technician, worked on maintenance excellence projects and led a technical organisation with an annual budget of around €3 million.

Today, I bring this experience to reliability, performance and digitalisation projects as an independent project manager and maintenance consultant.

How we work together

Understand first.
Then improve with purpose.

We start with a conversation: where do you want your plant to go, and what is holding you back? Together, we clarify your objectives and the next practical steps.

I come from the shop floor myself. That is why I develop solutions with the people who use them every day and support implementation in practice.

01 / DEFINE OBJECTIVES

Understand your needs and scope

Discuss expectations, challenges and desired benefits. Together, we assess whether my support fits your objectives.

02 / ASSESSMENT

Assess your starting point

Review equipment, processes, organisation and available data. Shop-floor conversations reveal the challenges in everyday operations.

03 / PRIORITIES

Address the right problems first

Gather missing information and prioritise opportunities by criticality, benefit and effort. Build a clear roadmap with owners and measurable objectives.

04 / PILOT

Start at the right scale

Depending on your plant's size and starting point, select pilot equipment or an area. Test the actions, review their impact and build a foundation for broader implementation.

05 / IMPLEMENTATION

Put improvements into practice together

Improve maintenance processes, support CMMS implementation and structure spare parts management and inspection planning. I work with on-site teams to implement practical, understandable solutions with clear responsibilities.

06 / SUSTAINING RESULTS

Sustain and build on results

Review results, empower process owners and establish routines. Your plant continues to run and improve the system independently.
